The ambitious development of Vanajanlinna Resort is rapidly advancing. This significant tennis investment is a key component of Vanajanlinna’s larger strategic development programme, aiming to solidify the resort's position as Finland's leading destination for experiences, comprehensive wellness, and high-end leisure.
We are committed to establishing the nation's premier summer tennis offering, thereby strengthening Vanajanlinna's role as a vibrant hub for leisure, events, wellness, and B2B encounters. The new courts will facilitate high-level camps, coaching, tournaments, and sports introductions, attracting new visitors and enhancing the region's appeal.
CEO Ville Puustinen, Bon Group: "The planned tennis courts are being developed entirely by Vanajanlinna Oy. Earthworks and a portion of the landscaping will be completed before winter, with court surfacing and final structures installed in the spring. We estimate the tennis courts will be playable in June 2026. Vanajanlinna’s magnificent setting, diverse services, and established golf offering are now being matched by an equivalent investment in tennis."
The investment for the courts is valued at approximately 0.4 million euros. The project creates immediate local employment and potential future opportunities as tennis coaching and competitive activities develop.
The courts will feature an ITF-classified Top Clay surface, a responsibly manufactured, high-performance clay surface that is water-permeable and fast-drying, ideally suited for Finnish summer conditions.
Construction is being carried out in a protected landscape area in accordance with the guidelines of the Finnish Heritage Agency and with the utmost respect for the environment. Access to the courts will be via Kipinäniementie, and portable stands will be used for events instead of permanent structures.
"There are only a couple of outdoor facilities of this calibre in Finland," continues Puustinen. "Our goal is to evolve Vanajanlinna into a nationally unique resort and, simultaneously, an internationally appealing sports and event centre built around a high-quality golf and tennis product."
